Expanding a list is a difficult matter…
Some people use an outliner to create a plain list of tasks. Others plan things as complex as world domination (like software releases). The latter ones often prefer deeply nested lists.
And if you work with deeply nested lists, you may find it rather hard to peruse a large expanded list of 5+ levels.
With Checkvist you can “expand to n”. Press ec to open the expand/collapse dialog window and arrow down to set the level you need.

There’re also quite useful options to expand only the selected branch or show all notes.
