New option for adding tasks, other fixes

This server update includes one feature which was repeatedly requested by some of our users and actively rejected by others.

Since Checkvists’ first days we tried to ease the process of adding multiple tasks in succession: after adding one task with the Enter key, an empty field for another task was opened automatically. This behavior is very useful during meetings or brainstorms - when you are quickly constructing a list.

But this behavior has its drawbacks. If you want to add only one task (or mark it with color/due date right after adding), you’ll have to get rid of this additional text field first. The process is simple - you can press Escape key, arrow Up, Down or Enter - but it is still some extra activity.

Recently we’ve implemented the request to avoid this behavior. After trying it out on our beta site we didn’t come to a clear conclusion whether the new approach works better. Even inside our small team we had opposite opinions.

So this is the first time we add a navigation setting to the Checkvist interface. You can find it under Profile > Customize tab (see below).

Besides this tiny feature, this server update includes multiple bugfixes:

  • Fixed multiple “Invitation accepted” emails from the same person when a list was shared by link. Now the notification will be sent only once.
  • Fixed adding a task in the mobile Checkvist interface, which occurred on some mobile browsers (Palm Pre)
  • In Internet Explorer 8, removing a list resulted in a Javascript error
  • The calendar pop-up window for the overdue tasks now shows the current month
  • In Checkvist compact mode (like in Firefox sidebar or as Chrome extension), hid the sidebar with keyboard shortcuts

We want to say big THANK YOU to the people who contribute ideas, bug reports and who encourage us in our work.

Till the next time.
