Checkvist story

Helping people easily create, share, and collaborate on task lists and outlines

Search and dynamic filtering, have a look!

We’ve been quiet for a while, sorry. Big features take big time to implement and a bit of concentration, too.

Text search and dynamic list filtering are rather popular requests in our forum, and now you can try using them on beta.checkvist.com (login with your existing account).

How it works
  • start typing in the search field to dynamically filter the list you are currently at, or
  • press Enter when you finished typing, and see search results page with all matched tasks (and notes) in all your lists.

Matched words are highlighted, tasks and notes expanded or collapsed depending on search results, you can toggle completed tasks visibility on the search page… anything I forgot to mention?

Oh, I forgot to say that your search request can combine #tags and plain text (just type # and select a tag from the auto completion window).

Why “beta” then? Because we’re still working on Checkvist performance (and search can make servers sweat, for sure), so we’d like to test it first. Besides, the search is not complete without due dates! Soon I’ll be able to type in something like: UI #sashka due:overdue, and see all UI tasks I’ve had to do by this date :)

Keyboard shortcuts do not change:
  • ff to put focus into the “find and filter” field
  • cf to clear filter
  • Enter to search in all lists
  • Esc moves the focus back to the filtered list

Well, I hope that “Find and Filter” now means what you think it means, and - as always - we do rely on your feedback, ideas, and support. Comments or email, we are always glad to hear from you!
